From Taupō to Pakistan: How One Swing Review Sparked a Global Coaching Connection

0 10

On opposite sides of the world, separated by oceans and time zones, two golfers connected through a single swing video. James Morgan has spent more than 40 years coaching golf. Based in Taupō, New Zealand, he has guided golfers of all levels, from beginners to single-digit players. He is known for his positive approach to building a great golf swing.

James begins with what a player is doing well and helps them build from there. After overcoming his own injury and navigating significant swing changes, he understands how challenging improvement can be, especially when players are trying to care for their bodies at the same time.

For James Morgan, golf is a lifetime sport. His goal is not simply to offer swing tips, but to help players experience more of those “wow” moments on the course. He believes lowering your handicap is about making the right changes at the right time, supported by clear and actionable feedback.

Recently, his coaching reached much farther than the fairways of New Zealand.

Online Coaching with James Morgan

Through QuickFix in the V1 GOLF app, a program that allows golfers to receive a complimentary swing review, James connected with Mubeen, a high achieveing teenager living in Pakistan. Mubeen excels academically and earns straight A’s with ease. However, when it came to golf, he faced a different challenge. He had limited access to a local teaching professional and was searching for guidance that could help him improve.

He submitted his swing through the V1 GOLF app and was matched with James.

For James, who primarily coaches locally in Taupō, this was one of his first international coaching connections. For Mubeen, it was a completely new experience.

James provided a detailed analysis along with specific drills designed to help Mubeen develop the correct feelings during practice. He explained the gaps in his swing clearly and offered simple steps for improvement. The impact was immediate.

“I balanced my set up as you said, and used your drills to drastically improve consistency and impact in one day,” Mubeen shared. “This way of support, analysis, clear description of gaps and supporting drills, was for me quite new as well as helpful in adopting.”

The difference was not an overload of information, but focused instruction that he could apply with clarity and confidence.

The connection did not end with that initial review. James and Mubeen remain in touch, continuing the coaching relationship that began with a single video submission.

V1 PAIRED and QuickFix

This experience reinforced something meaningful for James. Although he is based in New Zealand and has spent decades coaching players face to face, his reach is no longer limited by geography. Through V1 GOLF, V1 PAIRED, and the QuickFix program, a young golfer in Pakistan gained access to four decades of coaching experience, thoughtful analysis, structured practice drills, and ongoing encouragement.

This story highlights more than just a successful swing adjustment. It demonstrates how technology can extend the impact of great coaching. It allows experienced instructors to share their knowledge globally while maintaining the personal connection that makes coaching effective.

James remains the same coach he has always been, grounded in fundamentals and focused on helping golfers improve with purpose. The difference now is that his classroom is no longer defined by location. It can include a driving range in Taupō and a practice area in Pakistan at the same time.

James Morgan’s global coaching relationships continue to grow with V1 Sports, proving that when the right instruction meets the right technology, distance becomes irrelevant.
