In May of last year, Ryan Evans added online lessons to his coaching business. He was trying to solve two problems: time and income.
Living and coaching in a rural area meant his growth was limited by geography and available lesson hours. Online coaching offered flexibility and reach. A student could send a swing at night, and Ryan could respond the next morning.
Ryan now works with golfers across the United States, Europe, and beyond. Online lessons removed geography from the equation, raising the ceiling on how much he could grow his business.

One of Ryan’s biggest realizations was that online lessons were not just convenient for him. They were powerful for his students.
Golfers with busy schedules do not always have time to drive to the range, warm up, and attend a 45 minute session. With online lessons, they can film their swing in 2 to 3 minutes and send it in when it works for them. Many of Ryan’s students practice at home using indoor simulators. They are not just sending swing video, they are sending launch data, club head speed, face angles… That additional information allows Ryan to coach with precision.
The results speak for themselves. From competitive players preparing for tournaments to newer golfers trying to break 90, students are seeing measurable improvement. That progress gave Ryan the confidence to fully commit to building his online model.
Online lessons are not a downgrade from in person instruction. For many golfers, they are more consistent, flexible, and accessible.
How Online Lessons Help Coaches Earn More Money
Ryan built his first revenue stream by creating his own online membership.
He generates leads primarily through social media. He engages in golf forums where players post their swings and ask for feedback. Instead of posting quick tips publicly, he starts conversations privately. He asks about their goals, then he outlines a plan.
Early on, he made a mistake. He gave away too much in his free swing analyses. Full practice plans. Detailed breakdowns. He quickly realized there was no reason for golfers to continue with coaching after getting that much value at once.
He got feedback, adjusted, and learned how to give initial value while still leaving room for coaching.
Online selling requires a different skill set than in-person instruction. One of his biggest learnings? Building a repeatable process and staying consistent and disciplined led to his breakthrough.
Today, his online membership includes about 10 students each month. Enough to provide meaningful additional revenue, but not so many that he’s overwhelmed and overstretched.
Ryan continues to coach in person, but in-between sessions or at the end of the day, he looks forward to checking in on the progress of his students in online.

Ryan believes consistency builds credibility, and blocks his time to keep up with creating new content. He doesn’t have thousands of followers and millions of views (yet!), but he is getting his coaching in front of his audience regularly.
Did he always love being in front of the camera? No. He’s the first to acknowledge that it was uncomfortable and awkward at first. But 9 months later, it’s part of his routine and he’s seeing the fruits of his labor.
