Singapore, January 21: Members of Singapore’s golf community, including players and key stakeholders, were recognised at the Singapore Golf Association (SGA) Annual Gala and Awards Dinner held at the Grand Salon Ballroom, Sentosa Golf Club on Wednesday evening.
With Speaker of Parliament Seah Kian Peng in attendance as Guest of Honour, the evening celebrated the collective efforts that have shaped Singapore’s golf ecosystem into a more robust, vibrant and inclusive one.
Bob Tan, Chairman of Sentosa Golf Club, was honoured with the SGA distinguished award, while Shannon Tan led the list of award recipients for players by receiving the Outstanding Achievement Award.
Tan enjoyed a stellar year on the international stage, where she claimed two victories on the Ladies European Tour (LET) before clinching the prestigious LET Order of Merit.
“It really means a lot to receive the SGA Outstanding Achievement Award, and I’m grateful for all the support I’ve received. I’m proud to represent Singapore each time I compete,” said Tan.
Hiroshi Tai was named SGA Male Golfer of the Year after making history as the first Singaporean to compete at The Masters Tournament in 2025, while 17-year-old Chen Xingtong took home the SGA Female Golfer of the Year award following a breakthrough season that saw her reach the match play final of the U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship and contribute to Singapore’s silver medal finish at the SEA Games.
18-year-old Brayden Lee was named Male Junior Golfer of the Year, while Amiya Koul received the Female Junior Golfer of the Year award.
SGA President Tan Chong Huat said the awards reflected SGA’s continued commitment to growing the sport islandwide as he also paid tribute to partners and stakeholders for their shared vision.
“The SGA has a clear mandate to build on the solid foundations laid by previous boards and management while strengthening the development of golf in Singapore.
“Over the past three and a half years, we have been intentional about making golf more accessible, inclusive and relevant. Today’s robust golf ecosystem would not have been possible without the collective efforts of our stakeholders and dedicated Secretariat,” said Tan.
