Robinson Club Coaching Week – 6th to 13th December
It was a wonderful way to begin December: a full week of coaching at one of my favourite resorts: Robinson Club in Tavira.
This was a dedicated coaching week, designed to give the players a focused start to the winter season. The first four days were centred around structured practice sessions. We started with a mindset session on day one, setting the intentions and goals for the week followed by a long game practise, working on the fundamentals – grip, stance, posture and aim. After lunch we went back out for the short game session, working on short pitches to longer shots into a green. This a great start to the week and the only ALL day coaching day.
The week was co-hosted by the fantastic Andrea Hirschhorn, who joined us with her own group of clients. The combination of both groups worked brilliantly. Andrea is a fantastic coach with 30 year’s experience as well a player on the LET and South African tours. Our paths crossed the week of Sun City for a LET event, which I went on to win, so it was wonderful to share the week with her and her clients.
The rest of the week was a mixture of coaching and playing and with Sam joining in and playing 6 holes with each group on the Thursday while Andrea coached and walked on the course.
As always, Robinson’s hospitality played a big part in the experience. The all-inclusive setup makes life incredibly easy, and the evening entertainment was especially good this week lots of live bands, silent disco as well as entertainment by the staff. We were lucky with the weather too: blue skies for most of the week until the last day. Perfect for winter golf.
A midweek visit into Tavira for a taste of the Algarve and to see the Christmas lights through the town. It was a lovely way to spend an afternoon off and soak up the festive atmosphere.
All in all, it was a truly enjoyable and successful week plenty of improvement, great company, and the ideal blend of coaching, sunshine, and relaxation to start December.
