Men’s Club AGM

The Men’s A.G.M was held last Thursday 4th December and was very well attended. Captain Michael Buggy chaired the meeting and thanked everyone for their support during his year as Captain. Michael said it was a great honour to be captain of the club and he thanked the Men’s Committee members for their work throughout the year, with special mention for our Men’s Club Secretary Matt Dooley and Competition Secretary Eamon Breen, for the trojan work they do on behalf of the club. He highlighted the exceptional condition of the course during the main golfing season, and said great credit is due to our course staff. He also thanked our club course coordinator Austin Kelly and course manager Michael Doheny, for their contribution and commitment to the maintenance and ongoing development of the course. He also thanked all the club volunteers for the great work and commitment to maintaining the course and clubhouse in pristine condition. He thanked all who played in his Captains Prize and congratulated Michael Manogue who proved to be a very popular and convincing winner after a most competitive competition.

Captain Michael welcomed Warren Byrne, our incoming Captain for 2026 and extended his best wishes to him in his role as Captain.Incoming Captain Warren announced Mark Shortall as his Vice Captain and said they looked forward to serving the club with the support of all members in 2026. Club secretary Matt Dooley gave a detailed report on the club’s activities throughout the year. He extended sincere thanks to all our team managers and panel members for their dedication and commitment to our Men’s Interclub teams during 2025.The Moore Cup team provided the highlight of the Men’s Interclub teams, when they won the competition for the second year in a row, beating a very good Mount Temple GC in the final at host club Portarlington GC. Congratulations to team manager Pat Haughton and all his panel of players on an historic second victory in this long established competition.

Matt also thanked outgoing Men’s PRO Seamus Brennan and Michael Doheny for the long service to the Men’s Committee. The following members were elected at the AGM to the Men’s Committee for 2026 Men’s Club Committee 2026
