My Week at Robinson Club Tavira

0 9

At the start of November, I hosted a wonderful coaching week at the Robinson Club in Tavira, Portugal. Eleven golfers joined me for seven days of sunshine, golf, coaching and posture/Pilates.

The weather couldn’t have been better for November, with blue skies and a steady 22 degrees. Our first day was a full coaching day, beginning with a Pilates and posture

session with Jo, to get everyone moving well and swinging more freely. From there, we moved into a mindset workshop, focusing on setting clear goals, identifying limiting beliefs, and recognising what might be holding each player back, both on and off the course.

We headed to the range to work on “go-to” swing thoughts, those reliable mental cues that help when the game feels off. The rest of the day was spent fine-tuning pitching, bunkers, chipping, and putting, giving everyone a full and rewarding day of progress, both technically and mentally.

The next two days were spent at Quinta do Vale, a spectacular Seve Ballesteros signature course set right on the Spanish border. The views are stunning, and the layout challenges every part of your game. The practice facilities there are some of the best I’ve seen, a 9-hole par-3 course we used for short game work, and a superb range overlooking Spain.

Everyone enjoyed the stunning course, in buggies and the challenge Seve has created.

Day four saw us at Quinta da Ria, starting once again with Pilates and a short coaching session before heading out for 18 holes in the sunshine. It’s a beautiful, open course with stunning views of the coastline and a great contrast to Quinta do Vale’s dramatic layout.

Day five was a well-earned rest day, and everyone took it at their own pace. Some explored the charming town of Tavira, while others took advantage of the Robinson Club’s amazing facilities — Padel and tennis (both free), the gym, fitness classes, and the spa. That evening, we all enjoyed one of the hotel’s entertainment nights full of energy, laughter, and good company.

We finished the week with a final round at Quinta da Cima, after a morning of practice and Pilates. It felt like the perfect way to wrap up a truly balanced week a mix of play, coaching, mindset work, and everyone came away postured and strengthened by Jo!
