Tiger Woods’ Son Charlie Woods Earns Major Golf Honor

0 19

Tiger Woods is arguably the greatest golfer of all time, and his son Charlie is looking to fill those massive shoes.

The younger Woods is something of a golf prodigy, and he's even competed alongside his father at a few events. The 16-year-old is now set to earn an honor that his father received at the beginning of his golf career - setting the stage for the first steps of his own golf journey.

On Wednesday, the American Junior Golf Association included Charlie Woods on their first-team All-American roster.

Charlie Woods Joins Elite Company

Woods was among 12 boys to be named to the list, joining Miles Russell - a 17-year old who was selected as an alternate for the Walker Cup. Russell was also named the AJGA Player of the Year for the second straight time.

Fellow Walker Cup player and U.S. Amateur winner Mason Howell was included on the first team, as well as Cameron Kuchar, the son of another professional golfer in Matt Kuchar.

The boys' and girls' All-American teams were chosen by the Rolex AJGA Rankings as of October 14th.

Woods attends The Benjamin School in Palm Beach, Florida. He chose to focus on golf exclusively during the pandemic after a youth career that involved many different sports. Charlie accompanied his father at the 2020 PNC Championship, and the two Woods played as a tandem for the first time.

At 11 years old, Charlie became the youngest player in tournament history. The father-son duo have played at each of the last five instances of the tournament, finishing as runners-up in 2021 and 2024.

Tiger's Thoughts on Charlie's Golf Skills

Tiger has supported his son in many roles throughout his growing golf career, including as a teammate, coach and as a caddie.

"He (Charlie) has gotten better at every facet of the game," Tiger said during last year's PNC Championship.

"That's a commitment to practicing and developing as a player. I think that most of us forget he's only 15 years old. I know he's been doing this in front of the media for a long time but, being only 15, I think it's incredible what he's been able to accomplish so far and the ceiling that he has is unlimited."

Woods won his first AJGA event earlier this year in May, coming in first at the Team TaylorMade Invitational. After being named an All-American, we'll see if he can add another state championship victory for The Benjamin School to his impressive resume.
