A Toast to Taste: Bonnievale at Randpark Club

Raise your glass to an evening of fine wine, gourmet canapés, and good company at Randpark Club. On Wednesday, 29 October 2025, we invite you to a Bonnievale Wine Pairing Evening, an elegant tasting experience hosted by Christo Pienaar, CEO of Bonnievale Winery.

Christo joined Bonnievale Winery in July 2023 and has already made a remarkable impact. An accomplished winemaker, agricultural economist, and industry leader, he leads a talented winemaking team committed to producing exceptional wines from carefully selected vineyards. “Bonnievale Winery is a formidable enterprise with a proud history,” says Christo. “Underscoring this success is an experienced winemaking team using best quality fruit from vineyards in diverse, cultivar-matched locations. This is the essence of our ability to make exceptional wines that people enjoy.”

His leadership extends beyond Bonnievale. Christo is well known as chair of the SA National Wine Show Association, organiser of the Terroir, Young Wine Show, and Veritas competitions, a board member of AgriExpo, and a member of the Wine and Spirit Board. An accomplished wine judge, he has served on both local and international tasting panels, making him a trusted guide for wine enthusiasts and professionals alike.

During the evening, Christo will personally guide guests through a canapé-style tasting experience, pairing some of Bonnievale’s finest wines with bite-sized gourmet creations. Each pairing is thoughtfully designed to highlight the unique character of the wine:

• River Collection Chenin Blanc – Halloumi, pear, and rocket salad with a balsamic drizzle
• Limited Release Sauvignon Blanc – Chicken spring roll with spicy mango salsa
• River Collection Merlot – Grilled lamb chop with couscous salad, cranberries, almonds, mint, and lemon yoghurt dressing
• Limited Release Cabernet Sauvignon – Beef fillet mille-feuille with herb cream cheese and cherry tomato reduction
• Limited Release Red Muscadel – Crème brûlée milk tart

This is a relaxed, social tasting – perfect for mingling while discovering how thoughtful wine and food pairings can elevate your experience.
