The Ryder Cup returns for its biennial tournament. Keep reading to learn all the essentials about how to watch the Ryder Cup, including global live streaming options.

First established in 1927, the Ryder Cup brings together 12 players from Europe and 12 from the United States to duke it out on the golf course in a three-day match play format. This year's Ryder Cup is stateside, taking participants to the Bethpage Black golf course in Farmingdale, New York. The tournament takes place every other year and previously occurred in Italy in 2023, where Europe won the title. The US has won the tournament 27 times, while Europe has won 15.

Bryson DeChambeau, Collin Morikawa, Xander Schauffele, Scottie Scheffler, and J.J. Spaun are among those playing for Team USA. The European team includes Ludvig Åberg, Viktor Hovland, Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, and Justin Rose, among others.

No matter which team you're rooting for or where you're tuning in from, we'll make sure you know how to watch this weekend's tournament. The Ryder Cup tees off on Friday and will run through Sunday.

How to watch the Ryder Cup in the US

NBCUniversal is the home of Ryder Cup coverage in the US. Friday's coverage will begin on the USA network, while Saturday and Sunday will shift to NBC. The cheapest way to live stream all the action is through a subscription to Peacock, which starts at $11 a month. Both tiers of Peacock will carry Ryder Cup coverage, but Peacock Premium Plus unlocks ad-free on-demand streaming and 24/7 NBC live streaming.

If you'd rather watch directly via the NBC and USA channels, or you're looking for a more comprehensive live streaming option with other popular channels, then a live TV streaming service such as DirecTV, Fubo, or Sling might do the trick.

DirecTV's MySports pack earns one of our top recommendations. The genre pack carries NBC, USA, and around 20 other popular sports channels. There's occasionally some regional variation on local channels, so it's a good idea to double-check what's available in your ZIP code before signing up. Subscriptions cost $70 a month, but new users can get a five-day free trial and $10 a month off for their first two months of service. MySports also unlocks access to ESPN Unlimited, which would otherwise cost $30 a month.

Fubo is another popular live TV streaming service with NBC, USA, and more than 200 other live channels in its base Pro plan. Pro subscriptions cost $85 a month, but new users can $30 off their first month of service after a five-day free trial. Subscriptions also grant access to ESPN Unlimited. Fubo also has a Sports + News plan in select markets, but this option doesn't currently offer NBC, so we only recommend Fubo Pro or Fubo Elite with Sports Plus for those looking to watch the Ryder Cup.

Sling TV also carries NBC in a few of its packages, although local channel coverage varies by region in Sling plans, so it's best to see what's available in your area before subscribing. Local channels (like NBC) are available in Sling Blue and Sling Select plans. Sling Blue carries 40+ channels (including USA) and costs $46-$51 a month, while Sling Select has 10+ channels (excluding USA) and costs $20-$25 a month.

How to watch the Ryder Cup in the UK

Sky Sports will host Ryder Cup Coverage in the UK. Sky prices vary by contract, but plans that carry Sky Sports typically start at £35 a month. You can learn more in our guide to the best Sky TV deals and plans. Those seeking a more flexible option can also stream Sky Sports coverage through Now, which offers short-term and month-to-month plans.

How to watch the Ryder Cup from anywhere

Golf fans traveling away from home can still tune in via their usual viewing methods with the help of a VPN, or virtual private network. VPNs are easy-to-use cybersecurity tools that enable people to alter their device's virtual location. This way, their favorite websites and apps work from anywhere. The services we've highlighted today require country-specific payment methods, so this option will work best for those who are simply traveling overseas at the moment and hoping to use their existing accounts.

If you're not sure where to start when it comes to VPNs, NordVPN is our top recommendation at the moment. It's a top-rated service with a full suite of cybersecurity features. Plus, it comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee if you find that it's not what you're looking for.

Note: The use of VPNs is illegal in certain countries and using VPNs to access region-locked streaming content might constitute a breach of the terms of use for certain services. Business Insider does not endorse or condone the illegal use of VPNs.
