Finals Day Champions Crowned in Thrilling Competitions
What a spectacular Finals Day we witnessed at the club today! The greens were in pristine condition and the competition was fierce across all categories. After a day filled with exceptional golf, precision putting, and nail-biting finishes, we’re delighted to celebrate our 2025 champions.
Gents Championship
In a closely contested final, Darren Gorrie claimed the Gents Championship title with a superb performance against Robbie McLeod. After Roobie claimed a three-hole lead after 18 holes, Darren Gorrie continued to battle on in the second round and eventually claimed victory on the 17th hole.
Junior Championship
In a close final, Aaron McGuire and Stuart Gorrie traded the lead for much of the day. Halfway through the second round, Stuart managed to keep a steady lead through the remaining back nine. On the 18th hole, Aaron was able to secure a playoff for the junior championship. After four playoff holes, Aaron was able to secure the junior championship win by finishing with a par. Both players played exceptional golf throughout the day.
Ladies Championship
The Ladies final provided another thrilling encounter as Julie Nicols emerged victorious over Ava Graham. Julie’s precision and course management proved decisive in securing her championship title with a 6&5 win. This is Julie’s 13th club championship win.
Seniors Championship
Experience met determination in the Seniors final, where Conor O’Hagan triumphed over David Humes. Conor’s wealth of experience and steady play under pressure earned him a well-deserved championship. The quality of golf from both finalists was truly impressive.
Special Trophy Winners
Lady Anne Speirs Trophy
George Downie captured this prestigious trophy with an outstanding performance, claiming a 4&3 win over George Dickson.
Victory Trophy
Andy Campbell and John Byars were able to claim victory over Ian Walker and Ben Van Eyssen after the Victory Trophy went to a playoff. Andy and John won the 19th hole
Captain’s Cup
Congratulations to Kenny Kyle, who secured the Captain’s Cup with a victory over John McCarrey. This final was played on the 24th of August.
McLaren Trophy
Peter Nelson and John Byars will contest this trophy on the 4th of September.
