SGA names Joshua Ho as first CEO in move to further professionalise secretariat
Singapore, July 11: The Singapore Golf Association (SGA) has announced the promotion of Joshua Ho to Chief Executive Officer (CEO), marking a significant milestone as SGA’s first-ever CEO, and a key step towards further professionalising the Secretariat.
Ho, who previously served as the association’s General Manager, will now take on an enhanced leadership role, providing strategic direction for SGA’s development, while continuing to oversee the Secretariat’s operations, which he has been managing since 2021.
Ho was first appointed as SGA’s High-Performance Manager in 2019 after graduating from the Singapore Management University (SMU) with a Bachelor of Business Management. He assumed the role of Acting General Manager in August 2021, before being appointed General Manager in July 2022.
“Golf in Singapore has seen a rise in popularity through the achievements of our golfers on the global stage, as well as increasing participation at home.
“I look forward to the continued collaboration with the various stakeholders to build on the momentum established, and to keep advancing the growth of Singapore golf together as a fraternity,” said Ho.
Since joining the association, Ho has played a key role in elevating the sport’s profile in Singapore, strengthening relationships with key stakeholders, government agencies, and regional golf bodies.
A former Singapore national golfer from 2009–2019, some of his notable achievements include clinching a team gold medal at the 2017 SEA Games and receiving the Meritorious Award at the Singapore Sports Awards in 2018.
SGA President Tan Chong Huat welcomed Ho’s appointment and expressed full confidence in his leadership. He said: “This appointment marks an important step in strengthening the capabilities of the Secretariat to support the long-term growth of golf in Singapore. On behalf of the Executive Board, we are very pleased to appoint Joshua to the role of SGA’s first CEO. He is a proven sports administrator, and we are confident in his ability to lead SGA through this exciting period of growth and strategic development.”
