The Toro Company has released its Sustainability Impact Report for fiscal 2024, outlining progress in innovation, operational efficiency and workforce development. The report, prepared in line with Global Reporting Initiative and the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board frameworks, reflects Toro’s ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility and community engagement, according to the company.

Toro stated its approach to sustainability centers on three pillars: product, people and process. In 2024, the company advanced energy efficiency by expanding its electric equipment offerings, aiming to help customers and partners reduce their carbon footprints. A key initiative was the launch of a nationwide battery recycling program in collaboration with Call2Recycle, addressing the environmental impact of high-energy batteries used in outdoor tools.

Toro also introduced the autonomous Exmark Turf Tracer with XiQ technology, integrating cloud services and mobile apps to boost efficiency for landscape professionals. Partnerships with Sentosa Golf Club, recognized as a leader in eco-friendly golf, have furthered sustainable course management through advanced mowers, battery-powered vehicles and precision irrigation.

Toro’s operational improvements included its first Double Materiality Assessment to prioritize environmental, social and governance topics. The company reported significant productivity gains through energy efficiency initiatives, reduced packaging waste and ergonomic workplace designs. Toro also broke ground on a new paint facility for Ditch Witch in Perry, Okla., and launched a composting program at its Bloomington headquarters, diverting more than 34,000 pounds of organic waste from landfills.

A Zero Waste to Landfill program is set to launch in 2025, targeting waste stream management across North American operations. Toro also invested in workforce development by donating repurposed drill pipe to local schools and vocational programs.

Toro stated its 2024 Sustainability Impact Report demonstrates a comprehensive approach to environmental and social responsibility, with implications for customers, industry peers and communities.
