Since publication of the National standards of healthcare cleanliness in 2021, NHS managers have welcomed the opportunity to measure performance and benchmark against similar healthcare environments to drive higher standards of cleanliness across the NHS, achieving better patient experience in a uniformed way.A collaborative approach is essential to continuously improve cleanliness: organisations have seen the benefits of involving a board nominee, clinical colleagues, partner organisations and patients in setting and monitoring cleaning standards for consistent high levels of service.
