10 local golfers to battle world’s best as Moutai Singapore Open makes long-awaited return
Singapore, June 11: 10 Singapore golfers will have the opportunity to tee up against some of the world’s best players when the Moutai Singapore Open makes its long-awaited return after three years in November.
They are part of the confirmed spots allocated to the Singapore Golf Association (SGA) ahead of the tournament. In addition, the winner of the 2025 Singapore Open Amateur Championship, which will be held in July, will also qualify for a place at Singapore’s national open.
Held at the New Course at Singapore Island Country Club from November 6-9, 2025, the Moutai Singapore Open will be sanctioned by SGA and Asian Tour and boasts a lucrative prize purse of US$2 million.
It is part of The International Series – 10 premier events on the Asian Tour that boast elevated prize money and provide a pathway to the LIV Golf League.
Qualification for local players, bidding for top honours on home soil and join the illustrious list of champions including the late Kyi Hla Han (1994), Adam Scott (2005, 2006, 2010), Jeev Milkha Singh (2008), Ian Poulter (2009), Sergio Garcia (2018), Matt Kuchar (2020), will be based on the following breakdown.

- Top 4 Available on Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) as of 30 Sep 2025

- 1x Highest Available World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) as of 30 Sep 2025
- 1x SGA nomination spot
- 1x Winner of 2025 Singapore Open Amateur Championship (SOAC)

Murray Smit, SGA National coach, was pleased with the allocation of spots for the local contingent as he believes it will give them the chance to prove their worth in front of home fans.
“Playing at their National Open is a huge pride and honour for our players. And I’ve no doubt our best players who will qualify for the Singapore Open are determined to show their potential against a strong field,” said Smit.
