Scottie Scheffler Doesn't Hold Back Thoughts on LIV Golf

Fresh off of his PGA Championship victory Scottie Scheffer sent a bold message to the LIV Golf tour - prompted, of course.

While gearing up for the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club in his backyard - Dallas - the world No. 1 was asked if he'd have as much success as he's had on the PGA Tour in recent years if the likes of Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka never left for the LIV Golf tour.

Scheffler didn't take the bait.

"Who knows? I only get to compete against those guys four times a year. That was their choice not mine. At the end of the day I'm here competing, doing the best I can - that kind of stuff, what's the point in me thinking about?" he quipped. "We get four chances to compete against them and last week went well and we'll get another chance here in a few weeks."

In a follow-up question a reporter asked the three-time major winner if there was any progress on the two tours coming together. After suggesting that was better left for the "higher-ups" in the sport, Scheffler added, "I have said it a few times this year. If you want to figure out what's going to happen in the game of golf, go to the other tour and ask those guys."

"I'm still here playing the PGA Tour. We had a tour where we all played together, and the guys that left, it's their responsibility, I think, to bring the tours back together. Go see where they're playing this week and ask them."

This is hardly the first time Scheffler has commented on LIV Golf and his answers have remained consistent.

“I definitely miss the competition. They got some pretty good players on their tour. I still think the PGA Tour has by far the best players in the world. The depth of our fields and the competition that we have is still hands down the best competition that there is in the game of golf," he said ahead of the Masters in April.

"That’s why I’m still playing on the Tour. I love the competition. I wish some of those guys had stayed, but at the end of the day, they made their choice. They knew the consequences of that decision, and I’m not here to change their minds. I hold no ill will toward any of those guys that left," he added.

"They did what they wanted to do, and I can’t control their life. I’m not going to sit here and say they should have done something differently. They made their choice. If we want to figure out why the game of golf is not back together, go ask those guys. Go to wherever they are playing this week and figure out when the game is going to come back together.”

Just a few days after his third major title win, Scheffler will be teeing it up at the Charles Schwab Challenge this week.
