Golf punter’s £10 each-way bet returns mammoth £13,000 after picking just TWO winners
PREDICTING the winner of a golf tournament is notoriously difficult.
Picking the winners of two separate tournaments? That’s almost unheard of.
So you can almost envisage the scenes in one Paddy Power punter’s living room as their two selections won their respective competitions to bag them a quite ridiculous £13,000 from just a tenner each-way!
It is almost a case of what could have been though, with the £2.50 each-way trixie including Pierceson Coody to win the Myrtle Beach Championship, but he didn’t participate.
So the bet was altered and ended up with a £5 each-way double (£10 stake) & two £2.50 each-way singles (£10 stake) on Sepp Straka in the Truist Championship and Martin Couvra in the Turkish Open.
Straka (35/1) was locked in an intense back nine battle with Shane Lowry and Justin Thomas, with the former bogeying two of the last three holes which led to him falling out of contention.
The pair of them would end up on -14 and two shots off Straka in the end, with Lowry’s emotion at throwing away his chance evident on the 18th green.

Placed with Paddy Power
- Sepp Straka to win the Truist Championship at 35/1

£5 each-way double

And it was a similar story for Couvra (45/1) in Turkey, as he managed to birdie the 15th to open up his lead before playing level par in the three final holes.
That looked as good as those three holes would be, as strangely the eight players finishing directly behind him all hit par on each of the final three holes.
No inroads were made as a result and Couvra would go on to claim the first prize – also by two strokes.
That meant our savvy punter scooping a stunning £13,270 in winnings from that stake.
