Golf Course Conditions – May 2025
Brickyard Golf Course Maintenance Update – May 2025
Major Course Projects Underway
Work has officially begun on Hole #2 tee box and the washed-out areas on Hole #7.
-
#2 Tee Box Work (Begins May 1):
-
Dirt is being hauled in from Wesleyan Drive North to fill in the lower area between existing tees.
-
After shaping and compacting, new sod will be installed to form a larger, unified tee surface.
-
-
#7 Bank Repair:
-
The banks will be repaired, cleaned up, and sodded.
-
Drainage improvements include creating wide swells to better control rainwater and overflow from the large lake to the pond and beyond, helping to prevent future erosion.
-
Summer Maintenance Practices Begin
With warmer weather and active Bermuda grass growth, the team is launching several key practices:
-
Top-Dressing Greens:
-
Improves ball roll, dilutes thatch, and firms up the surface.
-
Most top-dressing is light and does not interfere with play, though heavier applications may occasionally be visible.
-
-
Aeration (May 14–15):
-
Essential for managing organic matter, improving drainage, and promoting root growth.
-
This year, we’re introducing the DryJect process, which offers the same benefits as traditional aeration but with less disruption to play. Learn more: DryJect Overview
-
-
Plant Growth Regulators (PGRs):
-
Applied to greens, fairways, and roughs to slow vertical growth and encourage denser, healthier turf.
-
Equipment Testing in Progress
Brickyard is currently demoing several pieces of equipment to determine the best tools for maintaining high-quality playing conditions moving forward.
Member Reminder
Please continue to do your part to maintain course quality:
-

-
Repair all ball marks—even during and after aeration
