Golf Champ’s Caddie Forced to Drop Out of Masters Days Before Tournament

0 21

Justin Thomas will be without his trusted caddy Matt “Rev” Minister during the Masters tournament this weekend. Minister suffered a back injury that will keep him from assisting Thomas.

The golf champ shared the news on his Instagram Stories on April 8 — just two days before his tee time.

“Unfortunately, my caddie Rev hurt his back this week and isn’t able to be on the bag with me this week at Augusta,” Thomas wrote. "Rev is resting up so he gets better soon. I’m very lucky Joe Greiner is a great friend and able to help me out last minute.”

In April 2024, Thomas announced the surprising news that he had parted ways with his caddie, Jim "Bones" MacKay.

“While incredibly difficult for me to say, Bones and I have parted ways," Thomas wrote on X. “I’m going to be forever thankful for him joining me on the bag in 2021. The things we’ve been able to accomplish together – The PGA Championship in 2022, The Presidents Cup, The Ryder Cups were all unforgettable experiences. His wisdom on and off the course has been a blessing during a tough stretch of my career and he was there every step of the way."

He's been working with Minister since — though Thomas has yet to nab a win with his new caddie by his side. Now, Thomas will put his faith in Greiner, who previously caddied for Max Homa, hoping to win his very first Masters.
