Quali-Pro creates the Elite Advisory Team

The word ‘elite’ gets thrown around a lot, but in this case, the word fits.

Quali-Pro has created what they’re calling the Elite Advisory Team, a group of superintendents at elite courses, that they can use as a sounding board for what the industry needs when it comes to creating the best course conditions possible. Superintendents like Michael Scott, John’s Island Club, Vero Beach, Fla., Mike McCormick, Oakmont (pa.) CC and Fred Doheny, Oak Hill CC, Rochester, N.Y., are just a handful of the 20 superintendents on the team.

“We’ve tried to partner with them because some of the best ideas come from out in the field,” says Allan Fulcher, vice president, turf, for Quali-Pro. “We’re trying to be more focused in developing what the customers are needing, not just new products we think are a fit.”

In January Quali-Pro invited the group to visit the company’s Pasadena, Texas-based headquarters so they could see the company’s manufacturing plant firsthand.

Mark Boyd, president/shareholder, Control Solutions Inc., parent company of Quali-Pro, said the thought of the Elite Advisory Team supporting his company makes him proud.

“We have people who got on an airplane, who flew across the country to come see what we’re doing, and how we do it and why we do it,” Boyd says. “I told each of them how grateful I was they did that.”

At TPC Sawgrass, the Quali-Pro representatives saw some return on that investment during the PLAYERS Championship when Lucas Andrews, assistant director of golf course operations, gave a shout-out to the QP team during the crew’s afternoon huddle.

“We’ve been absolutely bombarded with people today, in the most wonderful way — all of our sponsors have come through the office today. It’s a wonderful reminder of how many people help make this happen for us at such a high level,” Andrews said over the microphone. “One of our gold level sponsors is Quali-Pro. These guys have exploded into tournament golf venues. Their new slogan ‘trusted for championships,’ is very appropriate, they produce some excellent products, and are a wonderful supporter. You’ll see a lot of their material as they lead up to the U.S. Open as well. They are awesome, I love talking to these guys.”
