Golf Course Maintenance Update – March 2025
Preparing for Spring Growth
With warmer weather arriving, maintenance is cautiously easing into fertilization, applying low rates to slowly wake the Bermuda grass while avoiding damage from a potential late frost. Greens are coming out of dormancy well, and recent soil sample results show balanced nutrient levels and proper pH.
Mowing & Turf Management
- All grass areas are now being mowed to remove dead leaves and thatch, encouraging healthy new growth.
- Greens mowing remains frequent, with varied patterns, but Height of Cut (HOC) is unchanged.
- Fairways are now at their standard 0.5-inch HOC for spring and summer.
- Roughs are starting at 1.25 inches and will stay there for most of the year.
Upcoming Maintenance Work
- Venting select greens to improve water management.
- Light topdressing for smoother ball roll on greens.
- Irrigation repairs, including moving irrigation lines on Hole #7 to prevent washouts.
Bunker Etiquette Reminder
The reshaped bunkers have improved consistency, but every golfer must rake after hitting or walking in a bunker to ensure fair play for others.
Thank you for being part of the Brickyard. Please continue to fill divots, repair ball marks, and rake bunkers to keep the course in top shape.
