STLDGA 2025 Season Is Coming Soon!

As we wait for the snow to melt and the ground to unfreeze while longing for the days when those brown, spongey fairways return to their annual lush green condition, are you honing your swing at the golf simulator? Fine tuning those aspects of your game, both physical and mental, that will allow you to compete at the highest level when the St. Louis District Golf Association (STLDGA) tees it up for the 2025 season at St. Louis District Golf Association’s legendary courses.

If not, it’s time, because we are less than two months away from the annual opening tournament eventually leading to the 40th annual STLDGA Jim Jackson Invitational. Be sure to go to stldga.com to register for events.

STLDGA Roy Wilson District Challenge at Old Warson Country Club / April 9

The Challenge features a team from each District Club to promote and support the coming STLDGA championship season. In the Team Competition, Bellerive Country Club will be seeking its seventh District Challenge trophy after capturing the 2024 title with Golf Professional JD Auping, District Rep Jamie Shurlleff, Randy Krusleski and Assistant Superintendent Cole Metzger teaming for the victory. In the 2024 Superintendent Division, Mike Carron (Meadowbrook Country Club) won the competition. With the Professionals playing a scratch Stableford method, Bellerive’s Auping was victorious

STLDGA Jack Geiss Two-Man Championship at Bellerive Country Club / April 17

One two-man team represents each STLDGA Member club. In 2024 at Greenbriar Hills Country Club, Chad Niezing and Patrick Riordan (Meadowbrook Country Club) overwhelmed the field at 8-under to capture the Open Division. In the Senior Division, Andy Frost and Bryan Lovett (Bellerive Country Club) were forced to a one-hole playoff before escaping with the victory. 

STLDGA Bob Cochran Mid-Am Championship at Bogey Hills Country Club / May 12 

The championship is open to any district member that is at least 25 years old. The Open Division will play 36 holes. The Net Only Division will play 18 holes. The top five finishers in the Open Division and ties qualify for the STLDGA Jim Jackson Invitational. In 2024, Sam Migdal (Norwood Hills Country Club) birdied three of the last four holes to capture the Dennis P. Walters Trophy at Bogey Hills Country Club.

STLDGA Larry Etzkorn Pro-3 Senior Championship at Country Club of St. Albans / May 21 

The championship features a golf professional and three district members who are at least 50 years old in a one-day, two-net best balls stroke-play event. Sunset Hills Country Club’s Dan Abegg, Ken Highlander, Patrick Coyle and R.C. Martin combined to shoot 16-under to claim the wind-blown 2024 tournament at St. Clair County Club. 

STLDGA Pro-3 Junior Championship at Sunset Country Club / June 25 

The Championship is three district juniors and a professional in a two best ball competition.

STLDGA Junior Championship at Whitmoor Country Club / July 10-11

The championship is for junior golfers who must not reach age 19 by July 10, 2025. The overall champion and runner-up qualify for The STLDGA Jim Jackson Invitational.

The 2024 season provided an array of talented young champions: 11-and-under: Bodie Patton from The Legends Country Club; 12-13 year-olds: Bellerive Country Club’s

Henry Glarner; 14-15 year-olds:Blake Mueller, Forest Hills Country Club; and 16-18 year-olds: Hudson Shy, Bogey Hills Country Club.

STLDGA Men’s Championship at Norwood Hills Country Club / July 17-20

The championship is open to all district members with a handicap index of 5.0 or lower. The 132 lowest indexes will make the field.  Two days of stroke-play cut to the low 16 qualify for match play. All that qualify for match play will qualify for The STLDGA Jim Jackson Invitational. In 2024 at Meadowbrook Country Club, Joe Migdal (Persimmon Woods Golf Club) claimed medalist honors.  Zach Walsh (Forest Hills Country Club) curled in a 25-foot putt on the 18th hole of the final match to capture The Men’s Championship.

STLDGA Parent/Child Championship at Old Hickory Golf Club / Aug. 7

The championship features a two-person team in a modified selective drive/alternate shot format. One player must be a male member of one of the District Clubs. Flights are by age group of youngest player. Pairings of grandparent/grandchild, as well as “in-laws” are allowed. In 2024 at Algonquin Golf Club, Andrew and Max Roth (The Legends Country Club) grabbed the trophy.

STLDGA Senior Championship at Winghaven Country Club / Aug. 26-27

The championship is 36 hole stroke-play gross competitions for any district members at least 50 years old. Super-Senior division is at least 65 years old. The top five and ties of Seniors and top two and ties of Super-Seniors qualify for The STLDGA Jim Jackson Invitational. Skip Berkmeyer (The Legends Country Club) walked away with the Louis Cassett Trophy for the 2024 Senior Championship at Westwood Country Club. In the Super Seniors tournament, Neil Vanleeuwen (Glen Echo Country Club) claimed the first Tony Miller Trophy. 

STLDGA Jim Benson Memorial Championship at Dalhousie Golf Club / Sept. 15-16 The two-man championship requires both players to be district members. Round one is a four-ball format, while round two is a foursome format. The championship has a gross only division and a net only division. The Gross division champions and runners-up qualify for The STLDGA Jim Jackson Invitational.

Dalhousie Golf Club’s Ian Souter and Brevin Giebler capitalized on their home course knowledge to claim the 2024 2-Man Open Division. 

STLDGA Jim Jackson Invitational at Algonquin Golf Club / Oct. 11-12

The 40th annual championship is open to district members who qualified in district events throughout the year, and the club champion from each member club in a 36 holes stroke-play championship.

In 2024 at Algonquin Golf Club, Jason Landry (Greenbriar Hills Country Club) breezed to the title.
