Barney Golf & Coaching Tavira – 18 Jan 2025

A great opening day at Quinta da Ria as we enjoyed spacious range and unlimited golf balls!  We worked on easing out the rust from home as most of us have had limited golf due to the weather.  In the afternoon we looked at chipping, pitching and everyone’s favourite – bunkers!

Speaking of weather, we discovered on Monday that even the Algarve can have it’s fair share of rain.  My colleague Sam Head was due to be with us with her group based in Tavira, so very hastily we organised a meeting room and Sam gave us a super seminar on thought processes on the course, getting our mind in a good place to play our optimum golf.

The following morning looked decidedly bleak, however we met up at midday and attempted a few holes that with a turn in the weather turned into 18.  A super dinner was followed by great entertainment in the hotel, with a terrific covers group knocking out all the favourite hits.

The upturn in the weather continued on Wednesday and after a brush up on the short game, we played the lovely Ria course in breezy sunshine.

The last two days went according to our itinerary and had some productive range sessions and two enjoyable games at Ria and Cima.  On the last day we had an informal pairs competition with James and Andy running out comfortable winners on 39 points.

A gala evening (quite literally) at Robinsons Club rounded off a great week with a fun group.
