Golf tips, free bets and latest odds for the Pebble Beach Pro-Am 2025 and Bahrain Championship
The stars are coming out to play at Pebble Beach, with Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy both making their first PGA Tour starts of the season.
Scheffler has predictably been installed as a clear 11-2 favourite, even though he has been away from the course for almost two months now, delaying his return by three weeks after slicing his hand open on Christmas Day.
McIlroy has the benefit of an outing in Dubai, where he finished strongly to earn a share of fourth at the Desert Classic.
But his form at Pebble is pretty average – the smallest greens on Tour tend to expose the 12-1 shot’s dodgy wedge game – and it may pay to look at some of the longer priced contenders.
And the one who stands out is world No 6 Ludvig Aberg, who looks attractively priced at 18-1.

Golf tips
Aberg was runner-up here last year when making his Pebble Beach debut. He looked the likely winner until Wyndham Clark burst out of the pack with a course record 60.
Before last week’s Farmers Insurance Open I said I wanted to see more evidence that Aberg had fully recovered from knee surgery – and he provided it with a stunning first round 63.
I was impressed at the way Aberg gutted it out after going down with a bout of food poisoning after that. A share of 42nd place was certainly no disgrace. If he shows the same grit here, he will be tough to beat.
Jason Day could be one of the main threats, even though he struggled in the fierce winds that battered Torrey Pines last week.
Day also dug deep, and managed to preserve his record of not missing a cut since the US Open seven months ago.
There have been some near-misses during that run, and his share of sixth a year ago was the NINTH time he has made the top seven here. So he looks a sound each way prospect at 33-1.
Keegan Bradley continues to rack up the Ryder Cup points, and a 45-1 quote looks fair. He showed a liking for this course when he finished tied sixth last year. And he arrives in better form this time.
Previous form on this famous Californian seaside course is always a big plus. So 2021 runner-up Maverick McNealy and 2022 winner Tom Hoge – who are both in good form – enter the reckoning at 55-1 and 80-1 respectively.
Bahrain Championship
Patrick Reed just about justified each way support at Ras Al Khaimah last week, and now finds himself heading the market for the Bahrain Championship.
I’m not sure his form justifies a price as short as 14-1. LIV team-mate David Puig, third at Ras Al Khaimah, makes more appeal at 16-1.
But the player I like here is Sebastian Soderberg. The Swede showed encouraging form in fifth last week, and also played well in this event to claim a share of sixth 12 months ago. So at 33-1, he looks a decent each way shot.
Li Haotong and Dylan Frittelli – who won this last year – both performed well enough in the two Emirates tournaments to warrant respect at 40-1 and 90-1.
