Here’s something to cheer you up.

The Dakar Rally.

The legendary desert race across the towering dunes of Saudi Arabia.

The rally covers more than 3,200 miles in 13 days.

That’s the entire WRC season in less than two weeks.

Add in the road sections between the stages and it’s nearer 5,000 miles. The entire F1 season of 24 races.

Two British teams are attempting to conquer the Dakar.

Ford M-Sport with the Raptor V8.

Prodrive with the Dacia Sandrider.

Two old WRC rivalries renewed.

We caught up with the legend that is Carlos Sainz, the four-time Dakar winner driving for Ford.

He told us that Colin McRae first sparked his interest in Dakar.

He said the experience of driving son Carlos’s Ferrari F1 car was a memory to treasure forever.

He also revealed who is better at golf.
