Nancy Quarcelino is one of the most watched coaches in the V1 GOLF app. With a golf career spanning over 40 years, she’s considered one of the best instructors in the country. Nancy is a GOLF Magazine Top 100 Teacher, LPGA National Teacher of the Year, a member of the LPGA Professionals Hall of Fame, and selected multiple times as the Tennessee PGA Teacher of the Year. Throughout her career she has coached golfers of all levels of ability, including players on the LPGA Tour, PGA European Tour, PGA developmental tours, LPGA and PGA club professionals, and collegiate golfers.

In this first drill, Nancy covers tee height when hitting a driver. She recommends anyone with more of an inside to out swing to tee the ball higher, while anyone with more of an over the top swing to tee the ball lower. This is a simple change you can make to your setup routine that can make a big difference. 

 

In this second drill, Nancy walks us through one of the more difficult shots around the green–the finesse pitch shot. The goal of this shot is to hit it high and have the ball land softly on the green, but it’s often challenging to execute. This drill involves using your trail arm only, while turning and pivoting around the centerline of your body. 

 

Nancy’s third drill is all about distance control in putting to avoid three-putts. She demonstrates a simple drill you can do at any practice facility that involves putting the ball as close to the edge of the practice green as possible. This helps with getting a feel for the speed of the green.

 

Lastly, Nancy teaches the best way to practice rotating through the ball to finish open and through the shot. She advises to place your feet together, tee the ball up and practice swinging in that stance. This will help with making sure you’re rotating your body through the entire shot.
