'Major part of his lifestyle': Trump reportedly forced to forego golf until after election

Former President Donald Trump has been forced to forego golf, according to a new report.

Trump has not played golf since an apparent assassination attempt on Sept. 15 and will not return to the course until after the election, sources told NBC News Friday.

"It’s a big change," reporter Dasha Burns wrote on X. "Golf has long been a major part of his lifestyle."

This change in routine came in response to a warning from federal agents that they could not properly protect the Republican presidential nominee on the green, according to the report.

Trump will be unable to fully enjoy his 18 golf properties across the globe in places such as Oman and Dubai for another four weeks, the NBC News report noted.

"If Trump goes without golfing through Election Day, it will be the longest time he has gone without playing since the pandemic, which kept him off the links for over two months," the report states.

Trump has said golf is his main form of exercise, according to NBC News. It is also the subject of a 2019 book by sportswriter Rick Reilly entitled "Commander in Cheat: How Golf Explains Trump."

“Trump doesn’t just cheat at golf,” Reilly wrote. “He throws it, boots it, and moves it. He lies about his lies. He fudges and foozles and fluffs. At Winged Foot, where Trump is a member, the caddies got so used to seeing him kick his ball back onto the fairway they came up with a nickname for him: ‘Pele.’"
