Tan assumes chairmanship of AGF as Philippines readies to host 2025 South East Asian Amateur Golf Team Championship


Tan Chong Huat will assume the inaugural chairmanship of ASEAN Golf Federation (AGF) where he was unanimously elected at AGF annual general meeting- held during the sidelines of this week’s South East Asian Amateur Golf Team Championship.

With the Philippines confirmed as the host nation for the 62nd edition of the South East Asian Amateur Golf Team Championship, Martin Lorenzo, President of the National Golf Association of Philippines (NGAP) will also take over the Presidency of AGF for the next year.

As the chairman of AGF, Tan will oversee the strategic development of golf in ASEAN while also providing leadership and direction to the Federation for a term of four years. He will be assisted by Deputy Chairman Vu Nguyen, who is also the Vice President of the Vietnam Golf Association (VGA).

“There is certainly immense potential in the golfing landscape in ASEAN. Together with all members, we will continue to build the entire ecosystem which will benefit all countries in the region,” said Tan, who is also the President of the Singapore Golf Association (SGA).

“I’m looking forward to working closely with Mr. Tan to take ASEAN Golf to greater heights. We will continue to strengthen our unity and ensure equal opportunities for all member countries as we leverage on the promising golf landscape in this region,” said Vu.
