Applebrook Golf Club in Malvern, Pa., unveiled its ecologically friendly Brecker Turf Care Center, heralding a new era of sustainability under the leadership of Chuck Lawson, president of Applebrook Golf Club, and Jared Viarengo, CGCS, director of grounds and club operations.

The Brecker Turf Care Center, nestled within East Goshen Township parkland, features facilities and amenities representative of its dedication to environmental stewardship. The center prioritizes employee comfort, operational efficiency and resource conservation.

The facility uses high-speed data and Wi-Fi connections to help employees access vital resources seamlessly while simultaneously minimizing paper waste. New locker rooms, break rooms and bathrooms were designed to boost camaraderie and foster a culture of sustainability within the staff. The improvements will maximize Applebrook Golf Club’s use of electric-powered equipment, which has low noise production and zero carbon emissions.

The Brecker Turf Care Center most importantly holds an area for equipment technicians to repair and maintain turf equipment without causing major environmental impacts. To optimize resource utilization and prevent environmental contamination, the center includes advanced systems such as the PlantStar Mix-Load system and Carbtrol Wash Water Recycling system.

“By prioritizing sustainability in every aspect of our operations, we aim to set a new standard for golf course management while preserving the natural beauty of out surroundings,” Lawson said.

Founder and former club president, Tony Nichols, said the care center is a testament to Applebrook Golf Club’s commitment to environmental stewardship. He said the environmental and physical improvements convinced members the care center was a worthwhile investment.

“The Brecker Turf Care Center represents a significant milestone in our journey toward environmental sustainability,” Viarengo said. “With its state-of-the-art facilities and cutting-edge technologies, we are better equipped than ever to uphold the highest course maintenance standards while minimizing our environmental footprint.”

Applebrook Golf Club continues its journey toward environmental sustainability, using the Brecker Turf Care Center as a beacon of environmentally-conscious innovation and responsibility. The care center reflects the club’s dedication to protecting the environment for future generations.
