Get a Ruling • Relief for ball blogged in the grass wall surrounding a bunker
A player makes a stoke from well outside the green side bunker and the ball end’s up plugged in the grass wall surrounding that same bunker.
The ball is thus in the general area by definition not in the bunker. The reference point to determine a relief zone is not possible as the spot would be closer to the hole.
One option is for the player to go back where ball was last played (about 160 yds) and play under stoke and distance (unplayable ball) or drop the ball back of the line option.
The question: if the player drops the ball in the general area - using back of line option, does the player get free relief, one or two penalty strokes? Is the player allowed to drop inside the bunker if so, does he/she get free relief?
Many thanks
