Arkansas Concludes Round Two at NCAA Championships

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – No. 18 Arkansas Women’s Golf completed the second round of stroke play on Saturday at the Grayhawk Golf Course in Scottsdale, Ariz., shooting a 17-over 305 on the day. The Razorbacks are currently in 22nd place, looking to make a move into the top-15 in the third round of stroke play to advance in the NCAA Championships.

Junior Julia Gregg moved up eight spots in the second round of play, finishing with a share of 19th place through 36 holes. Gregg fired one bogey and three birdies, starting out her round in the back nine at two-under. She carded four bogeys and one birdie to round out the second day and end at one-over 73.

Kajal Mistry ended the second round with a share of 56th place, carding a six-over 78 on the day. The junior shot two bogeys to start the round in the back nine, finishing her round with a birdie. Junior Ela Anacona made a move in the second round, moving up 14 spots in the leaderboard with a share of 94th place. Anacona shot three bogeys and two birdies in the back nine to lead to her three-over 75 performance in the second round.

Rounding out the Hog’s lineup were freshman Ffion Tynan shot an eight-over 80 in round two of stroke play, finishing the day tied for 122nd, and Giovanna Fernandez, who completed her first round in the NCAA Championships, firing a seven-over 79.

The Razorbacks will tee off tomorrow Sunday, May 22 at 2:36 p.m. CT, playing 10-holes of stroke play to determine the top 15 teams along with the top nine individuals not on an advancing team who will compete for one additional day of stroke play to determine the top eight teams for match play competition and the 72-hole stroke-play individual champion. The top eight teams then compete in match play for the team national championship to be decided May 25.
