Hogs Wrap Up Day One of NCAA Championships

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – No. 18 Arkansas Women’s Golf finished round one of stroke play at the NCAA Championships on the Grawyhawk Golf – Raptor Course. The Razorbacks are currently tied for 21st place, shooting a 307 (+19) as a team on Friday.

“We got off to a slow start today.  The beauty of this championship is that we have more days to climb the leaderboard,” said Head Coach Shauna Taylor. “We couldn’t get anything going today, but I know we are prepared for the climb up the board. We look forward to the challenge ahead of us.”

Leading the Razorbacks through round one was junior Kajal Mistry, firing a one-over 73 in the first round of stroke play. Mistry shot a bogey on the second hole to start her round but carded eight straight pars to round out the front nine. She fired a birdie in the back nine to lead to her one-over performance and into a tie for 18th place.

Junior Julia Gregg finished the first round of stroke play tied for 27th place. Gregg carded three straight pars to start out her round, shooting one bogey and firing a birdie to put her back at par through the front nine. She shot a birdie and three bogeys through the back nine to finish at two-over 74.

Both junior Ela Anacona and freshman Ffion Tynan closed out day one shooting an eight-over 80 to finish tied for 109th place. Rounding out the Hogs lineup is sophomore Miriam Ayora, turning in a 13-over 85.
