‘His fifth of the day!’ – Golf fans divided as Donald Trump claims to have hit a hole-in-one during round with Ernie Els

DONALD TRUMP claims to have achieved every golfer’s dream by scoring a hole-in-one during a round at West Palm Beach.

The former US President, 75, is well known for his love of the links and hit the course before a ‘Save America’ rally on Saturday evening.

He was snapped alongside legend Ernie Els after claiming to have netted a hole-in-one

Tim Swain, a Republican candidate running for Senate in South Carolina, gleefully broke the news via his Twitter.

He wrote: “TRUMP JUST MADE A HOLE-IN-ONE!”.

The message was validated by a picture of a delighted Trump displaying the ball in question, with his playing partners all holding up one finger.

Also on the course with the 45th president were former PGA Tour players Ken Duke and Gene Sauers, as well as South African legend Ernie Els.

Trump was playing just a week after his 14-year-old granddaughter won the women’s championship at the same venue.

But social media users were skeptical of the former President’s achievement, with him being known to talk up his golf game in the past.

One replied to Swain: “His 5th of the day!”

While another added: “Suuuure he did. You didn’t take the blindfolds off to see him tippy toe by you and drop the ball in?”

And other brought up North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, who infamously claimed to have got a hole-in-one on all 18 during his first ever round of golf.

They wrote: “Then [Trump] went on to score 38 under par; scoring 5 additional holes-in-one, beating Kim Jong-il to become the greatest golf player ever!”

Trump owns several golf courses in Florida as well as one in North Carolina, while across the pond he runs Trump International Scotland.

He has been accused of cheating on the fairways before, with his golfing antics even explored in a book by ESPN columnist Rick Reilly.

It claimed Trump was a talented golfer but would allegedly resort to dirty tactics if he wasn’t leading.

Reilly wrote: “Trump was playing with Mike Tirico, the sportscaster, who hit a long, soaring second shot into a par five, high-fived his caddy, and headed for the green.

“When he got there, there was no sign of his ball; it had somehow ended up in a sand trap some fifty feet left of the pin.

“‘Lousy break’, Trump said. Tirico was so befuddled that he took a seven.

“Afterward, Trump’s caddy told Tirico that his approach shot had actually finished up about ten feet from the hole.

“‘Trump threw it into the bunker’, the caddy said. ‘I watched him do it.'”

Trump responded to the allegations in 2016: “I don’t drop balls, I don’t move balls. I don’t need to.”

“I don’t cheat at golf. I don’t cheat at anything actually. They’re dishonest people.”
