Captains Corner – March 2022
My word it is almost April and I have not had the chance yet to say anything in March.
I spent last week in the Free State rating a couple of courses there and it made me realise just how lucky we are to have such an awesome course in Krugersdorp. The one course we rated has twenty-five members of which 12 are active. The members are mostly farmers, and they dig into their own pockets to buy diesel for the mowers to cut the fairways. Let me tell you that you could easily lose your ball in the middle of the fairway. And they still keep the club going without anyone moaning about anything, amazing.
I would like to congratulate the men’s and ladies’ committees and the staff at the club for the fantastic job they did with the arrangements of the club champs for all our participating members. Both weekends were awesome and enjoyed by all.
Congratulations to Michael Potgieter and Belinda Mans for winning their respective club champs. WELL DONE to both of you.
The club has now purchased ashtrays for the carts so please do us a favour and make sure you have an ashtray in your cart if you are a smoker and hiring a cart. This should keep all the cigarette butts off the course. Please also fill all your divots on the fairways. Let’s keep our course in tiptop condition.
I saw this sign at one of the clubs in the OFS and found it quite interesting and thought I should share it with you. The sign was hung above a bell in the bar.
Leagues:
Interesting, in the Midam League we have two players from Kdorp in the top ten in their league. Great stuff.
In the Ladies Weekday league our Ladies Club Captain is leading the way.
The jackpot at the Captain’s Draw was won last month and this month it reverts back to R10 000, and we also have the Joker Draw plus the lady’s lucky draw. So, make sure you are there to stand a chance to win this month’s prizes. Don’t forget we also have the par three competition in the afternoon before the festivities. Mark Belling will be entertaining us this month.
