Golf Course Superintendent News – February 2022

0 21

On the Course at the Brickyard we are working on maintaining greens as they are. We have great coverage and good ball speed across the board. Weed management is working as planned and all necessary Fertilizer and Lime is being applied. In May, 2021 soil samples were sent off and the PH balance on all Greens were low. I am happy to report we just received our current soil sample results, and all the Greens PH are in balance with where they should be.
If you have been out to the course in the last two weeks you may have seen the new Putting Green either covered or the mats rolled up beside it. This is a precautionary action only to protect this Green from the extreme cold nights. The Putting Green is doing well, and we don’t want it to go backwards. When you play golf this time of year remember the grass is not actively growing, please help us out by taking different routes with your carts and repair divots and ball marks. Thank You.
In the coming weeks we will be spraying the course preventively for weeds. We will be putting out wetting agents on Greens to manage the optimum moisture levels. Also, we will be working in beds and all other aspects of the course. I look forward to a great year and hope to see you on the course.
