Golf tips and free bets: Picks for the Pebble Beach Pro-Am including 150/1 shot
THE Pebble Beach Pro-Am takes place this week with an interesting twist on the backdrop.
The field is some way off its best with a host of the world’s top players teeing up in Saudi Arabia in the controversial Saudi International.
Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Phil Mickelson, Tony Finau, Sergio Garcia, Patrick Reed, Tommy Fleetwood and Ian Poulter are all among the players in Saudi Arabia this week.
And that sees Patrick Cantlay as the single figure favourite for Pebble Beach at 6/1 with Sky Bet and 15/2 with Paddy Power.
Daniel Berger, Jason Day and Jordan Spieth are also teeing up in California and are at the top of the odds.
But despite Cantlay’s low price it’s hard to see beyond him having finished top 10 in his last four tournaments.
He finished third last year behind Berger and Maverick McNealy after a first round 62.

Cantlay starred at the Ryder Cup last year after winning the Tour Championship and the BMW and was named PGA Tour Player of the Year.
He’s dropped down to number four in the world after Viktor Hovland won in Dubai last week, but is among the form players in the world and looks hard to bet against here in a weakened field even at that price.
McNealy at 22/1 on Sky Bet is also worth a go with the eight places.
The 26-year-old is from California and has performed well in his home state.
He finished T27 and T30 at the Sony and Farmers and comes into this field after finishing second last year with four rounds in the 60s.
For a long shot Matthias Schwab at 150/1 takes my fancy. He missed his last two cuts in Abu Dhabi and Dubai but a return to the States might bring him some fortune.
He was T22 at the RSM in November and T35 in Houston in his last two American starts and was T12 at Wentworth in September.
