Mens Captain’s Report

Firstly, thanks Graham Chee. Graham has done a fantastic job over the past five years and has the respect of the members. He has also supported me over the past two years and ensured that I have a good understanding of my role as the captain and what I will face in the coming twelve months. Only good, I hope.

Graham passes the baton and leaves the club in a strong position going forward. He has worked with the Board and the relevant committees, and I can assure you that there is a plan going forward to improve the course and club facilities. You will note that there have been repairs to the course over the past months and there are many more planned for the coming months. As you notice these repairs, please consider how you can play your part by repairing divots, repairing pitch marks and reducing traffic on areas that do wear, especially the areas between bunkers and greens.

The 2022 Pennants series commences in January 2022. Our teams have been very competitive over the past few years, and we won the B grade pennant last year. I have high expectations this year and believe all our teams will be a winning chance. I encourage all our members and especially our Juniors to nominate on the sheets that have been placed on the notice board outside the Pro shop. Gosford has always played Pennants in a good spirit, and you will enjoy the experience.

I have only been in the role for a week and my golf game seems to be suffering. My excuse anyway. I am though happy for members to approach me at any time if they have an issue, just not while I am putting.See you on the course or in the clubhouse.

Ladies Captain’s Report

The Ladies AGM took place on the 16th of November. The golf event was a drop out Ambrose. It was an enjoyable day with a pleasing number of Rookies included in each team.

At the AGM Liz Robinson and Helen Potter were thanked for their hard work & service to the Ladies at Gosford, and Maria McGann and Denise Bentlin were welcomed to the Section.

The Section for 2022 is:

Deb Flanagan: President
Sheena Asken: Captain
Sharon Anderson: Secretary
Vicki Foster: Treasurer
General Committee: Geraldine Turner, Maria McGann & Denise Bentlin.

Kim Cardiff will continue to run the Vets golf & Robyn Krahe has volunteered to take over the mentorship of the Rookies from Helen Potter. June Bowen has kindly agreed to say on as our Patron & we congratulate Sharon Anderson who has been elected to serve on the CCWGA committee.

A question was raised as to whether players could be handicapped on coring days when the same nine holes are played twice. Golf NSW has rated the ladies red course for such occasions which allows for the handicapping of these events in future.

Pro Shop Day was on the 23rdof November. It is an event which tends to divide opinion, some embrace the challenge & others find it particularly frustrating. Congratulations to Sandra Coyle, Kay Walker & Pia Mylan, nett winners in divisions one, two and three.

Both Ladies days in the first week of December were “ham days” & we thank the club for their generously donating the hams. Six lucky ladies ticked a Christmas shopping box & won a ham.

The Christmas lunch & limited presentation is on Tuesday the 7th& promises to be a fun day. This marks the official end of 2021, a year in which most of our events had to be cancelled.

Finally, some general information of intertest:

Gosford has committed to field two pennant teams next year.

The NTPs’ are back on the following holes.

  • 5th and 12th holes – handicaps 0 – 26 Stroke/Division 1
  • 8th and 14th holes – handicaps 27- 45 Stroke/Divisions 2 & 3
  • 8th hole over the field on a Thursday.
