Captains Corner – November 2021
Howsit everyone. The rain has arrived big time and the course is looking magnificent. Of course, it is a lot harder to walk because it is so thick and heavy at the moment. I have also noticed that the time sheet is very full during December so if you are planning to play during the silly season make sure you book in time and you are not disappointed.
The course will be closed on 25th December and 1st January but will be open on Monday the 20th and 27th. Once again please make sure you book in time.
Unfortunately, the final Boere vs Souties was rained out and declared a draw, but I am sure the tradition will carry on next year. I heard through the grapevine that the Boere were quite happy with the draw because they were running behind anyway. LOL
I am not sure if all of you guys have noticed but the washing area in the men’s change-room has had a major facelift and looking really good with the frames now added around the mirrors.
Also, a big thank you must go out to JP Momberg from Aspire Property Group for sponsoring the bibs and hats for the caddies. I think they look very cool. You will also notice that the flags on the practice green are sponsored by Aspire. Thanks JP.

The Ladies section had their Christmas party on the 4th and judging by what we saw and heard on the day a great party was had by all. They arranged a karaoke DJ for the afternoon and apparently, he certainly had them singing and dancing the afternoon away. Well done girls.
The Ladies also held a Ladies Open on the 24th November and this was exceptionally well attended with a very full field of players from all over Gauteng. Here are the results from the day and congratulations to all the ladies who arranged the day.

The scratch league sides are still busy with their games and will carry on until the middle of February next year to complete their schedule. Good luck going forward guys. The new schedules for next year’s league games are on the CGGU site so go look them up and mark the dates in your calendar if you have volunteered for a league side to ensure you are available on the game days.
Please note that there will not be a Captain’s Draw during December. The next draw will be on Friday 29th January and the jackpot will be R20 000.
