Super Seniors win round 1
Congratulations to Liam O’Shea and his Super Senior team who played Blainroe this afternoon. All 5 matches were played in Greystones which can sometimes add some additional pressure and this afternoons match went to the wire.
Our first pair, Ray Hogan & Julian Pollard found themselves all square after 6 and the match stayed tight to the 17th where we lost 2&1 to a strong pair from Blainroe. Our second pairing of Cathal Cooney & Jerry Teehan came up against two fine players and despite also playing extremely well lost on the 17th.
Liam’s middle pair of Eddie Joynt & Pat Raftery got off to a blistering start, 5 up after 6 and stayed in command to win out 4&3. Frank Coleman & Alan O’Sullivan went through 6 at 1 up and ended up with a great win 4&2.
It all came down to Larry Darcy and Denis ” Killer” Cromie in the last match. All square through 16, the Greystones pair won 17 & 18 to win their match and secure the tie.
