Pat O’Dowd’s Best cup played Ashbourne in the second match this afternoon in Greystones. This was a home and away tie with Greystones having home advantage.
Our first away pairing Paul Cahill & Maurice Bracken made easy work of their match winning 8&7 and the second pair away in Ashbourne of Jimmy Hempenstall & Brian O’Connor were 1 up on the turn and kept the pressure up to win on 17. Two points from two for the away squad.
At home Dermot Whiston & John Cogavin went through 6 with a 2 hole advantage eventually running out 3& 2 winners. Dermot’s & John’s point secured the tie with Chris Corrigan & George Hughes and John Carroll & Michael Caughran still on the course 1 up and 3 up respectively.
