Asia-Pacific Diamond Cup time!

0 6

The Asia-Pacific Diamond Cup – one of Japan’s most prestigious events – will tee off this week boasting a strong representation from the Asian Tour.

A total of 14 Asian Tour members will compete in the event, which begins on Thursday at Sagamihara Golf Club in Kanagawa.

The event was cancelled last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic but makes a popular return this season on the Japan Golf Tour Organization, which restarted in April.

Japan’s Kenichi Kuboya and Toshinori Muto, both winners before on the Asian Tour at the Panasonic Open Golf Championship and both seven-time champions in Japan, are competing along with countrymen Shinichi Mizuno, Ryosuke Kinoshita, Kazuki Higa, Mikumu Horikawa, and Tomoharu Otsuki.

Former Asian Tour number one Juvic Pagunsan from the Philippines is also playing, as well as Asian Tour winners Rahil Gangjee from India, Scott Strange from Australia, South African Shaun Norris, and Thailand’s Panuphol Pittayarat and Natipong Srithong

The tournament is the fifth event to be played this year since the restart.

Japanese star Takumi Kanaya, aged just 22 years old, has been in prolific form and tops the Money List with two victories and four other top-10 finishes in just eight starts since turning professional in October last year.
