[Women's Golf] THE BLUEJAY WOMEN FINISH AHEAD OF STERLING AT SAND CREEK

0 13

Newton, Kan. - The Bluejay Women's team stayed close to home this week travelling to Sand Creek Station Monday and Tuesday.  The weather both days were 50 degrees and windy which is hard to play in for golf. The Bluejays played their best golf since they restarted beating rivals Sterling College by one stroke and Central Christian by 92 finishing in 8th place out of 10 teams.  The standout player for the Bluejays once again was Valdisa Andov (FR/Pekanbaru, Indonesia) who finished in third place out of 49 players. Disa finished behind two players from Tyler Junior College who are ranked 6th in the nation as a team in all of the NJCAA. "I know Disa was not satisfied with the way she played because she knows in order to win conference she still needs to improve" said Coach Jamieson. "However, she is still a top 5 player in conference and despite not playing her best golf she still finishes in the top five in most tournaments she plays in. "

Tara Sheets (FR/Azle, Texas) and Lauryn Paredez (FR/Cutler, Calif.) also finished with their best rounds of the year at a perfect time giving the Jays a one stroke win over the Warriors of Sterling College. Gracie Trogdon (FR/Lawton, Okla.) and Megan Brock (FR/Poolville, Texas) also competed for the Bluejays contributing to their best finish of the year.

WHATS NEXT- The Bluejays will finish the season on the 23rd and 24th of April at the final leg of the KCAC championships at Buffalo Dunes in Garden City Kansas.  Valdisa Andov has positioned herself in the top ten but will need to mount a come back from an 11 stroke deficit to win, and move on to the National Tournament. As a team the Bluejays currently sit in last place.
