LADY CAPTAIN 2021

Our AGM for ladies was held on 12 January 2020. Outgoing Lady Captain, Kathleen Hand welcomed Anne Lillis, our new Lady Captain for 2021. Kathleen gave a synopsis of her year and said that although, not a normal year, she had thoroughly enjoyed it. She wished Anne good luck in her year.

Good Evening Trustee Betty and Lady Members
Thank you for attending this unusual zoom AGM. Thank you, Kathleen, for your work in your role as Lady Captain. You carried it out very well and made the best of it despite all the cancellations and restrictions. Your Captain’s day was extremely well organised and thought out. I look forward to Kathleen supporting me and keeping me on the straight and narrow in the coming year.

I am honoured to take up this role and know I have ‘very big’ shoes to fill. There have been amazing ladies in this role in the past and I can only wish that I can in some way live up to the members’ expectations. Thank you Kathleen for asking me to take on the role. We cannot tell what is in store for us this year, but we can only hope that the vaccine will allow life to resume in a more familiar way. I know that we are all looking forward to getting back to golf. During last year, being able to play golf was a great outlet and certainly gave me the feeling that life was normal, whatever that is! So roll on that situation again.

Could I ask everyone to encourage new members to join the club. In the past year we again got a number of new members – ladies, men and juniors. This is wonderful and these members are the future of the club. We welcome them and hope they all feel integrated into our club. I would like to thank Sandra McBride for taking on the role of Vice Captain. I have worked with Sandra on the Committee. Her dedication to the Committee and as competition Sec was impressive and I look forward to working with her in the coming year. I am delighted with my committee. I sincerely thank them for either staying on or joining the Committee for the coming year.

Finally, I could promise you all sorts of competitions and events but we are going to have to be very fluid. You can be assured that we will do what we can when we are permitted by the restrictions as set out by the GI. My committee and I will endeavour to make the coming year as enjoyable as possible for you the members. Please feel free to approach us on any issue. I wish you all a very safe and healthy year and hope that golf will be a major part of it.
