[Cross Country] Cross Country Competes at GPAC Meet; Kiptoo Wins

Doane Cross Country competed at the GPAC Championships on Saturday in Yankton, S.D., at Fox Run Golf Course. The Tiger men finished in 3rd place while the women took 6th place.

Shawn Kiptoo (SO/Eldoret, Kenya) led all runners in the men's race, finishing with a time of 25:44 to win by 25 seconds and claim the conference individual crown. Thomas Oliver (FR/Lincoln, Neb.) and Alec Wick (SR/Blair, Neb.) came across the finish line in 18th and 19th place, respectively. Gavin Skorupa (FR/Lincoln, Neb.) and Evan Wick (SR/Blair, Neb.) crossed at 23rd and 24th, respectively, to claim the five scoring positions for Doane. The Tigers' 1-5 split on the day was two minutes.

The Tiger finished with 77 points, finishing behind Dordt (34 points) and Northwestern (55 points).

The women's team was paced by Jaci Parriott (SR/Murray, Neb.)'s 14th place finish and time of 19:46. Lucia McKeag (SO/Ogallala, Neb.) placed 22nd and Jacinda Davis (SR/Plattsmouth, Neb.) was 28th. Jaden Hilkemann (SO/Lincoln, Neb.) crossed the finish line in 30th with Annika Pingel (JR/Pella, Iowa) finishing 39th overall. The team's 1-5 split was 1:13 for the meet.

Doane collected 127 points with Dordt winning the meet with 27 points. Second place came down to a one-point difference as Morningside edge Northwestern, 94-95.
