Akron’s Highlander Range to Reopen as Toptracer in Spring 2021

0 102

The driving range visible from I-77 on the border of Fairlawn and Akron will reopen in March 2021 as the area’s newest Toptracer Range facility.

Highlander Range on Ridgewood Road was shuttered in the early 2000s. The range itself quickly became overgrown with high grass, and scrub bushes started to hide the clubhouse building.

NM Residential purchased the property with the intent to redevelop it into a concept similar to Topgolf, but took no action in that direction and even listed the property for sale at one point.

According to NM Residential CEO Michael Niederst, the company recently re-evaluated the property and decided it to be a better opportunity to renovate the existing facility, creating a Toptracer Range similar to Stonebrook Driving Range on Pearl Road in Middleburg Heights, a property that NM Residential also owns.

Clean up and renovations started just a few weeks ago: all of the unwanted bushes, trees and overgrowth have been removed; a new roof has been added to the existing clubhouse building; and prep work in advance of completely renovating the building and the old double-decker range platform is in process.
