New Handicap System

Good Morning Members,

As we hope you are aware, a new world handicap system is coming info force on 2nd November. This is a global change so all golfers in the world are working off the same handicap. All golf clubs in the UK & Ireland will be changing to this system.

Unfortunately and truth be told there is a lot to take in as it isn’t a simple change. There are pages and pages of documents and videos on the links attached below. Please have a sit down and a really good read at all the information provided. We have also provided a link to a podcast by the GUI explaining the new world handicap system which is very useful. 

This system is new to everyone at the club, so no one has all the perfect answers yet as we are getting more and more new information every day. The GUI had hoped to have some sort of road show where they would go to each club and explain this new world handicap system but because of COVID-19 this is not possible. So please familiarise yourself with the new world handicap system as it would be impossible for the match and handicap secretary to explain this to each individual member.
