Course Report – May 2020
Course Report May 2020
A Lockdown Course Report.
During this lockdown period, there have been two members of the greenkeeping team maintaining the course.
We have been under specific Golf of England and BIGGA guidelines as to what we are allowed and not allowed to do.
For example –
Greens to be mown a maximum of 3 times a week.
Tees and Approaches to be mown a maximum of once a week.
Fairways and managed roughs to be mown a maximum of once a week.
And so on and so forth.
With that said, we have been busy with mowing the managed areas of turf and trying to maintain their aesthetics and playability.
We are at our summer height of cuts on Tees, Approaches and Fairways. The greens have been left a touch longer, we don’t feel the need to stress out the grass plant until we need too.
We have been able to topdress the greens and continue their feeding and wetting agent program.
We have taken the opportunity of an empty course to continue cutting back any in play trees and scrub.
All marker posts have been collected, jet washed clean and painted where necessary.
The new turf had bedded in nicely and A6 tee will be ready for play as soon as we open.
All post and rope has been collected and stored away.
The weather has been much better and we found ourselves hand watering some traditional hot spot areas to keep them from drying out. With the recent rain we have had, everything is starting to grow strongly and it will now be a case of keeping on top of the mowing as best we can until we are able to get the whole team back in.
For now, everyone stay safe and we hope to see you soon.
Many Thanks
Lee Payne
