SGCC held 2020 club championship August 22–23

With over 40 golfers competing, the Sackville Golf and Country Club held its annual club championships recently on August 22-23, 2020.

Coming out on top of the first division was the overall men’s club champion Wade Ward with a 157, and the first low gross winner was junior Joe Carpenter with 163. The overall tournament low net score of 125 was turned in by Alan Landry, and Matt Partridge won first low net in the first division with a score of 140. Chris Chambers shot a 179 for first gross score in the second division while John McAllister turned in a 144 to win the second division net prize.

Top senior in the tournament was Vince Estabrooks who shot a 162, while fellow senior John Murchie finished with a 181 for second low gross. Alex Whitla scored a 125 to win the low seniors’ net prize.

In the ladies division, Heather Mitton scored a 173 beating Sue Seaborn’s score of 176, and Judi McLellan’s result of 177. McLellan won the overall low net (141) while Linda O’Keefe turned in a 151 for second low net.

Closest to the pin honours were grabbed by Colby Tower on hole number 7 (10′ 2″), and Alan Atkinson on the 14th hole (7′ 7″).

Congratulations to all competitors on a wonderful weekend of golf, and also to those who were winners and recipients of the terrific prizes given out at the awards ceremony after. Many thanks to tournament organizers Grant MacDonald and Sheila Wells for a great tournament.
