Capital Region golf fans holding tickets for the 120th U.S. Open at Winged Foot still may be able to attend, but not likely on the originally scheduled dates.
According to a story by Mark Cannizzaro of the New York Post, the Open will become the third of golf's four majors to postpone its event, following the Masters (April 9-12 in Augusta, Ga.) and PGA Championship (May 14-17 in San Francisco).
The U.S. Golf Association championship is scheduled for June 18-21 at the Mamaroneck course, located approximately 140 miles south of Albany. The Post has reported that Winged Foot has been informed that the tournament will not take place than because of coronavirus concerns, and that a late summer date is targeted.
