Golf Classic 2019 – Great Day Out

The annual Derry City FC Golf Classic took place on Saturday at the North West Golf Club, in association with AE Global.

With the sun shining on Buncrana, the event was heralded a big success with more than 50 teams taking part in the event.

Paddy McCourt came down to take part and was joined by current City players Ciaran Coll and Grant Gillespie.

The day, organised by Friends of Derry City was intended to raise money for the club’s academy and women’s teams.

Thanks also to everyone that sponsored a hole or a tee on the day, your support is greatly appreciated.

We’d also like to thank Edgar McCormick, Liam Hegarty and Bert Martin for their efforts in ensuring the event was a success and also to the volunteers who pitched in on the day, great work!

The prize-giving took place on Saturday evening at NWGC where the winning team with 95 points collected their reward with each receiving a brand new Titleist golf bags. The team consisted of A. Falkner, G. Doherty, P. Bradley and M. Healy. Well done!

Prizes were awarded down to 5th placed teams in the GUI section with small prizes awarded for nearest to the pin and longest drive, the latter happened to be by City’s own Grant Gillespie.

Winners in the Non-GUI section each received new Derry City FC jackets.
