[Men's Golf] Bearcats Place Fifth at the Lindsey Wilson Invitational
The Brescia men's golf team placed fifth out of 10 teams at the Lindsey Wilson Invitational held at The Pines at Lindsey Wilson.
New personal records were set for two of the Bearcats. Ryan Howard (SO, Boonville, Ind.) set a personal best in his sophomore campaign by shooting a career low 68 on day one with an even par 71 in day two to finish one shot from a playoff, finishing sixth overall. Daniel Steele (SR, Bardstown, Ky.) also shot a personal best day one with a one under par 70 and followed up with a 77 on day two.
Parker Brown (SO, Henderson, Ky.) also played solid despite a cold putter to shoot rounds of 74/73. Dakota Jones (SO, Center, Ky.) continues to improve as he gets acclimated to more tournament golf with scores of 76/78. Jake Jarvis (SR, House House, Tenn.) rounded out the Bearcats with scores of 83/84 as he is getting more tournament reps as well.
There are a lot of things we can take away from this event as we are still not playing our best golf as a team. We are making a lot of progress in the right direction as players are beginning to step up and answer the call," said Head Coach Jason Cox.
"I am proud of how they are stepping up and within each round I can see the great shots, we just have to eliminate the mental errors/shot selection that are holding us back currently," Cox added.
The Bearcats will be back in action at the John A. Logan Invitational on September 23 at the Kokopelli Golf Club in Marion, Illinois.
